"Completed approximately 130 years ago, the Barnathan Apartments are among the earliest examples of apartment residences built in the Galata area from the late 19th century onwards. The dates 1892 and 1893 are inscribed in stone at the building’s two entrances, while beside them are the corresponding dates 5652 and 5654 in the Jewish calendar. Like other Beyoğlu apartment buildings of the period, the apartment takes its name from the property-owning family."
